drive
For our final project, we decided to use my idea to incorporate a sock/glove drive to give back to our community. We eventually decided on the phrase, "Show You Care, Pin a Pair." We discussed multiple different ideas for materials. Our final decision was to tile print our words, and cut the letters out of foam core. We will have stick pins stuck into the word "Pin," the word "CARE" will be wrapped in red soft fabric, and the words "show you" and "a pair" will be painted/decorated to give a cozy winter/holiday vibe. We will also create an info flyer with details about our project and instructions on how to donate. Donators will take a pin from the word pin and stick their socks or gloves to the word "CARE," eventually filling the word completely with donations. We chose a square blocky font for the word "CARE" called "squarefont" and "Titillium" for the other words.
My contributions to this project included:
Coming up with the main idea/focus for our theme (Sock/Glove drive)
Brainstorm/disccus/sketching and typesetting ideas for the wall
Typesetting "Show You," tile printing and assembling it.
Assembling one of the large squared letters from tile printed pages
Providing my home for us to get together on Saturday 12/1 to cut out all letters.
Spray mounting foam core boards together so they would be thicker
Cutting out the words "Pin a" and "Sh" from the word "Show"
Providing three pairs of socks and two pairs of gloves for the drive
Providing spray paint, tape, glue, tools, various decorative items
Providing 2 sheets of foam core
Wrapping the word "Pair" in wrapping paper
Wrapping the large "A" from "CARE" in flannel with Aly and assisting with wrapping the C, R, and E with the other girls
Spray painting the small "a"
Spray painting the word "You"
Helping to measure the wall before installation
Putting pins in the word "Pin"
Hanging the words for our final installation
It looks like our final count was 24 pairs of socks and gloves!
Natalie and I were the only ones who showed up for tear down. When I arrived Natalie had already taken everything down and she said she would be taking the items to Iron Gate.
Very thoughtful and complete content for the final project.
